Will you partner with us to build a just and equitable world free from racism and other systems of oppression?

Join us on September 30 via Zoom for an evening of powerful music and stories with the incomparable Reggie Harris! This event is designed to raise funds to expand the reach of the Living Legacy Project, deepen our program offerings, and solidify the organization's future.

Whether or not you've given to the Living Legacy Project before, we ask you to consider a significant gift at this time to support this work.

As our thanks, enjoy an incredible evening with Reggie and the Living Legacy Project!

Why your support matters!

The Living Legacy Project is now celebrating its third year as a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. For two of those years, we've been in the midst of a global pandemic. Not the best time to build a new organization! However, that didn't stop us. When we could no longer offer civil rights pilgrimages, we took our passion and commitment online.

In the past two years, we have offered twenty virtual programs on topics ranging from voting rights to the music of the Civil Rights Movement, from critical race theory to Gullah-Geechee culture, from Freedom Riders to the musical legacy of protest.

Overcoming the growing suppression of history
With the growing suppression of the teaching of the history of racism in our schools, we are more committed than ever to make sure the stories and lessons of the Civil Rights Movement do not get lost or forgotten!

It's imperative that future generations understand how today's inequities are rooted in the past and how the courageous actions of those who have gone before them can serve to both teach and inspire them in their work for justice and equity.

How we plan to impact racism
As we get back on the bus starting in October, we are committed to extending our reach to inspire today's work for racial justice by sharing more lessons of the Civil Rights Movement. We plan to do this by:
  • continuing our signature pilgrimages to Mississippi and Alabama while adding pilgrimages to new places around the country that have civil rights lessons to share;
  • partnering with more college groups to educate students about the importance of these stories to present day activism;
  • providing experiential education and resources to educators at all levels about the Civil Rights Movement; and
  • inspiring and emboldening activists with the music of the Civil Rights Movement and today’s protest music.
