- Robert Zellner: A white southerner who became the first white field secretary for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and fought alongside African Americans for civil rights.
- Dorothy Cotton: An educator and leader in the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) who worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and played a crucial role in the Citizenship Education Program.
- Bayard Rustin: A key advisor to Dr. King and the chief organizer of the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Rustin was a tireless advocate for civil rights, nonviolence, and economic justice.
- Zoharah Simmons: A Freedom Summer volunteer and SNCC member who later became a professor of African American Studies and Religion, dedicating her life to social activism and education.
- Pauli Murray: A pioneering lawyer, activist, and priest who fought against racial and gender discrimination. Murray's legal theories laid the groundwork for future civil rights legislation.
