Living Legacy Project  ·  Special Webinar

Vernon Dahmer:
Real Civil Rights Hero

Wednesday, September 23, 2026  ·  7:30 p.m. EDT

Vernon Dahmer, Sr. was one of the heroes of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement. His reward: the Klan killed him and tried to kill his family in 1966.

A just-released movie uses Vernon Dahmer's murder as the jumping-off point for a fictionalized version of the ensuing FBI investigation. Members of the Dahmer family believe that the movie slights Vernon Dahmer's decades of work for justice and equity.

Get a factual version of Vernon Dahmer's life and work — not the movie version.

Join us for a conversation with Dennis Dahmer, Vernon Dahmer's youngest son and himself a survivor of that 1966 Klan attack. Dennis will set the record straight on who his father was, what he stood for, and why his legacy matters — especially now.

And let other interested people know about this webinar. There is no charge; donations are appreciated.

Featured Speaker
Dennis Dahmer
Son of Vernon Dahmer, Sr.  ·  Survivor, 1966 Klan Attack

Dennis Dahmer is the youngest son of Vernon Dahmer, Sr., the civil rights leader and NAACP chapter president who was killed in a Ku Klux Klan firebombing of his Hattiesburg, Mississippi home on January 10, 1966. Dennis was present during the attack and has spent decades honoring his father's legacy — ensuring that Vernon Dahmer's lifelong commitment to voting rights, community leadership, and human dignity is remembered accurately and fully.
